  1. WHAT IS FENISTIL AND WHAT IS IT FOR?
    Fenistil gel contains the active substance dimetinden maleate (0.1%) which belongs to the group of drugs called antihistamines.
    Fenistil gel is used to relieve itching by blocking the action of histamine, which is a substance that is released in the body during allergic reactions that occur with:
  • skin rash, urticaria
  • insect sting
  • sunburns
  •  superficial burns.

Applied to the skin, the gel penetrates the skin well and relieves itching and irritation within a few minutes. It also has a local anesthetic effect.

  1. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU TAKE Fenistil
    Fenistil should not be used:
  • if you are allergic to dimetinden maleate or any other ingredient of Fenistil gel (see section 6 and the end of section 2). If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
  • in late allergy to insect bites.
  • on open or inflamed wounds, in case of diseases that cause wet wounds on the skin, on the mucous membranes or near the eyes, especially in infants and small children.

If any of these apply to you, do not use Fenistil gel

When taking the drug Fenistil, be especially careful:

  • For children under 2 years of age, the medicine may only be used on the recommendation of a doctor.
  • The application of Fenistil gel to large areas of the skin should be avoided, especially in infants and small children.
  • Do not expose the treated areas to sunlight for a long time.
  • Consult your doctor in case of severe itching or sores on a large area of skin.
  • Consult your doctor if symptoms last longer than 7 days.

Children
For children under 2 years of age, the medicine may only be used on the recommendation of a doctor.
In small children and infants, the gel should not be applied to large areas of the skin, especially if the skin is inflamed or injured.

Administration of other drugs
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if:

  • you suffer from other diseases,
  • if you are allergic to any medicines,
  • you apply some other medicines to the skin (including those that can be obtained without a doctor's prescription).

Application of the drug Fenistil during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Before you start taking any medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, Fenistil gel should be applied with caution and must not be applied to a large area of skin, damaged or inflamed skin. Do not apply Fenistil gel to the nipples if you are breastfeeding.

Effect of Fenistil drug on driving motor vehicles and operating machines
When applied to the skin, Fenistil gel has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive motor vehicles and machines.

Important information about some of the ingredients of Fenistil
Fenistil gel contains: - benzalkonium chloride, irritant, can cause skin reactions. - propylene glycol, can cause skin irritation.

  1. HOW TO USE THE DRUG FENISTIL
    Always take Fenistil gel exactly as your doctor has explained it to you. If you are not absolutely sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
    Adults and children older than 2 years: Apply the gel in a thin layer 2 to 4 times a day on the affected skin areas and rub in gently.
    In children under 2 years of age, Fenistil gel can only be used if prescribed by a doctor. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve within seven days.

If you have taken more Fenistil than you should
If you or your child accidentally swallows Fenistil gel, tell your doctor immediately.
Apply the medicine as prescribed in this instruction or by your doctor. If you think that the drug is too strong or too weak, consult your doctor.
If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

  1. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
    Fenistil gel, like other drugs, can have side effects, although they may not occur in everyone.
    The most frequently reported side effects during the use of the drug are mild and transient skin reactions at the application site.
    Fenistil gel can cause the following side effects:
    Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 patients taking the medicine) dry skin, burning sensation on the skin
    Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 patients taking the medicine) allergic skin reaction, including an itchy skin rash
    If any side effect becomes serious or you notice any side effect that is not listed in this guide, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.
  2. HOW TO STORE THE DRUG Fenistil
    Keep out of the reach and sight of children!
    Shelf life Shelf life: 3 years.
    Shelf life after first opening: 3 months.
    Do not use Fenistil gel after the expiration date indicated on the box.
    The term of use expires on the last day of the specified month.
    Storage Store the medicine at a temperature of up to 25˚C.
  3. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
    What does Fenistil contain? Active substance: dimetinden maleate
    1 g of Fenistil gel contains 1 mg of dimetinden maleate.
    Other ingredients are: benzalkonium chloride; disodium edetate; carbomer; sodium hydroxide; propylene glycol; water, purified.

What the drug Fenistil looks like and the contents of the package
Appearance of the gel: homogeneous, colorless to light yellowish, transparent to slightly opalescent gel, almost odorless.
Packaging: The finished product is packed in an inner package, which is an aluminum tube closed with a polyethylene cap. The outer packaging is a collapsible cardboard box containing 1 tube.
