\n1. What is the drug Canesten and what is it intended for
\nThe drug Canesten contains the active substance clotrimazole. Clotrimazole belongs to a group of medicines called
\nantifungals (medicines to treat fungal infections).
\nCanesten cream is used to treat fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes caused by dermatophytes,
\nyeasts, molds and other fungi, such as:
\n- fungal infections of the feet ("athlete's foot"),
\n- fungal infections of the hands,
\n- fungal infections of the trunk, limbs and folds of the skin,
\n- fungal infections of the groin,
\n- fungal skin infection called pityriasis (Pityriasis versicolor),
\n- fungal skin infections caused by Candida fungi; in women, vulva infection (pubic
\nlips), and in men, inflammation of the glans (glans) and prepuce (the skin that covers the tip of the penis
\norgans) caused by yeasts (candida-vulvitis and candida-balanitis).
\n2. What you need to know before you use Canesten
\nCanesten should not be used:
\n\uf0b7 if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to clotrimazole or any of the auxiliary substances of this medicine
\n(listed in section 6). In this case, you should consult your doctor before use.
\nWarnings and precautions
\nTalk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Canesten.
\nKeep the medicine out of the reach and sight of children.
\nAvoid contact with eyes. Do not swallow.
\nCanesten may reduce the effectiveness and safety of latex products such as condoms and diaphragms.
\nwhen applied in the genital area (women: labia and area around the vulva; men: glans and skin that
\ncovers the tip of the genital organ). This effect is temporary and occurs only during treatment.
\nOther medicines and Canesten
\nIt is not known that there may be an interaction between the drug Canesten and other drugs.
\nInform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or may take any
\nwhat other medicines.
\nPregnancy and breastfeeding
\nIf you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, contact your doctor or
\npharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
\nPregnancy:
\nIt is advised to avoid the use of clotrimazole during the first three months of pregnancy.
\nBreastfeeding:
\nDuring treatment with this drug, breastfeeding must be stopped.

\nDriving vehicles and operating machines
\nCanesten has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
\nCanesten contains cetostearyl alcohol
\nThis medicine contains cetostearyl alcohol, which may cause local skin reactions (eg contact dermatitis).
\n3. How to administer the drug Canesten
\nAlways use this medicine exactly as stated in these instructions or as explained to you by your doctor
\ndoctor or pharmacist. If you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist. If you don't wake up
\nIf you follow the instructions exactly, the medicine will not work properly.
\n\uf0b7 Before use, place the inverted cap on the tube and press to pierce the sealed part.
\n\uf0b7 If the foot is infected, before applying the cream it should be washed and dried, especially between the toes.
\n\uf0b7 Canesten, cream, is applied in a thin layer, 2-3 times a day and carefully rubbed into the skin. Small amount
\ncream (1\/2 cm) is enough for an area the size of the palm. The duration of treatment depends on the type of infection.
\nTo ensure a complete cure, depending on the indication, the treatment should last as long as it is needed
\nthe indication listed below (see "Duration of therapy"), even if the symptoms disappear.
\nDuration of therapy
\nFungal infections of the feet, hands, trunk, folds of the skin for 3 to 4 weeks
\nInfections called Pityriasis versicolor from 1 to 3 weeks
\nFungal infections of the genitals from 1 to 2 weeks
\nYou must contact your doctor if there is no improvement after 4 weeks of treatment.
\nCanesten is intended for external use only:
\nDo not put the cream in your mouth or swallow it.
\nIf you accidentally swallow the cream, contact your doctor or the emergency department of the nearest hospital immediately.
\nIf the cream accidentally gets into your eyes or mouth, rinse immediately with water and contact your doctor.
\nIf you forget to use Canesten
\nIn case you forgot to apply the medicine, apply the cream as soon as possible and continue the treatment as before.
\nDo not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
\nIf you suddenly stop using Canesten
\nIf you want to completely cure the yeast infection and prevent its recurrence, you must not stop the treatment
\nwithout consulting a doctor. If you do, you run the risk of the disease recurring. Treatment does not
\nyou can stop immediately after the disappearance of the symptoms of the infection, but you must continue with it as it is
\nprescribed in this manual.
\nYou can help treat the infection by following some simple tips:
\n\uf0b7 Although the infected areas are itchy, try not to scratch them. Scratching will damage the surface of the skin and cause
\nfurther spread of infection.
\n\uf0b7 Keep the affected skin areas clean.
\n\uf0b7 Take special care to dry the skin, but avoid excessive rubbing.

\n\uf0b7 Do not share towels, bath mats, etc. with others to avoid spreading the infection to them.
\n\uf0b7 Always wash your hands after applying the medicine to infected areas to prevent the spread of infection.
\nIf you have athlete's foot:
\n\uf0b7 Dry the skin between the toes completely.
\n\uf0b7 Wash your socks and tights thoroughly in warm water to remove any dead skin.
\nskin or fungal spores.
\n\uf0b7 If possible, change your shoes daily.
\nIf you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
\n4. Possible side effects
\nLike all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
\npatients taking this medicine.
\nAdverse effects have been identified during the post-marketing period of clotrimazole. Since these
\nreactions reported voluntarily from a population whose exact size is not known, is not always possible reliably
\ndetermine their frequency.
\nImmune system disorders: allergic reactions (sudden, short-term loss of consciousness, drop in blood pressure,
\ndifficulty breathing, hives).
\nSkin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: blisters, discomfort\/pain, swelling, redness, irritation, skin peeling, itching,
\nrash, stinging\/burning.
\nIf side effects appear for the first time or if the condition worsens, stop using it
\nCanesten, cream and consult a doctor.
\nReporting adverse reactions
\nIf you experience any unwanted reaction, you should inform your doctor or pharmacist.
\nThis includes any possible side effects that are not listed in this guide. By signing up
\nadverse reactions can help evaluate the safety of this medicine. They suspect unwanted reactions

\n5. How to store Canesten
\nKeep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
\nYou must not use the medicine Canesten after the expiry date indicated on the package after "Expiry until".
\nThe expiration date refers to the last day of the specified month.
\nThis medicine does not require special storage conditions.
\nShelf life after first opening: 3 months if the medicine is stored at a temperature of up to 25 \u00b0C.

\nUnusable medicines are handed over to the pharmacy where the notice that they are to be collected is displayed in that pharmacy
\nunusable medicines from citizens. Unusable medicines must not be thrown into the sewer or together with
\ncommunal waste. These measures will help protect the environment.
\n6. Contents of the package and other information
\nWhat Canesten contains
\n\uf0b7 The active substance is clotrimazole.
\n1 g of cream contains 10 mg of clotrimazole.
\n\uf0b7 Auxiliary substances are: benzyl alcohol, cetostearyl alcohol, cetyl palmitate, octyldodecanol, polysorbate
\n60, sorbitan stearate, water, purified.
\nWhat Canesten looks like and contents of the pack
\nWhite cream.
\nThe inner packaging of the drug is an aluminum tube with a membrane and a PE screw cap.
\nThe outer packaging is a collapsible cardboard box containing 1 tube with 20 g of cream and an instruction manual.
