1. What is the medicine Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen and what is it intended for
The medicine Herbion Iceland lichen syrup contains a soft extract of the thallus of Iceland lichen.
It is a traditional herbal remedy recommended for the symptomatic relief of irritation of the mucous membrane of the lips
sinus and pharynx and accompanying dry cough.
Iceland lichen extract contains mucilage that is supposed to coat, protect and moisturize the mucous membrane of the lips
cavities and pharynx, thus relieving irritation and dry cough.
Use in the indicated indications is based solely on long-term experience.
You must contact your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 7 days.
2. What you need to know before you take the medicine Herbion Icelandic lichen syrup
You must not take Lek Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Icelandic lichen extract or to any of the auxiliary substances
of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Herbion Iceland Lichen Syrup:
- if you have problems with the respiratory tract, which are accompanied by difficulty breathing, elevated body temperature
fever, chronic cough or blood in the sputum, you must see your doctor immediately,
- if the symptoms of the disease do not improve after 7 days of treatment or worsen during treatment
you need to see a doctor.
Children and adolescents
The medicine Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen is intended for use in adults and children older than 4 years.
Before using the medicine in children aged 2 to 4 years, you should consult a doctor.
Other medicines and Herbion Icelandic lichen syrup
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any
other medicines, including those that can be obtained without a doctor's prescription.
Due to the mucus content, the syrup can slow down the absorption of drugs if it is administered at the same time.
Therefore, it is recommended to take the medicine half an hour to 1 hour before or after taking other medicines.
It is necessary to avoid the simultaneous use of the drug Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen and warfarin (a drug which
prevents blood clotting), due to a possible pharmacodynamic interaction that can lead to a decrease
resorption of warfarin from the gastrointestinal tract.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, contact your doctor or
pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
It is not recommended to use Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to
insufficient data on the use of Icelandic lichen extract in pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Driving vehicles and operating machines
It has not been established that the medicine Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen affects the ability to drive vehicles and operate
machines.
Lek Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen contains sorbitol, liquid, non-crystallizing (E420) and ethanol
Lek Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen contains 760 mg of sorbitol, liquid, non-crystallizing (E420) in one
milliliter. In case of intolerance to certain sugars, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Sorbitol acts as a mild laxative. Caloric value is 2.6 kcal/g of sorbitol.
This medicine contains small amounts of ethanol (alcohol), less than 100 mg per dose.

3. How to take Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen
Always take this medicine exactly as stated in this leaflet or as explained to you by your doctor
or a pharmacist. If you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
The usual dose for adults and adolescents over 16 years of age is 15 mL of syrup four times a day.
The usual dose for children aged 10 to 16 years is 10 mL of syrup four times a day.
The usual dose for children aged 4 to 10 years is 5 mL of syrup four times a day.
Usual dose for children aged 2 to 4 years: 2.5 mL of syrup four times a day.
Children aged 2 to 4 may use this medicine only on the advice of a doctor.
The medicine Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen is not intended for use in children under 2 years of age.
Do not eat or drink immediately after taking the medicine Herbion Icelandic Lichen Syrup, because this medicine is so
can remove too quickly from the mucous membrane of the oral cavity and pharynx.
It is recommended that you drink large amounts of tea and other hot drinks while taking the medicine Herbion syrup
Icelandic lichen, but not immediately after taking this medicine.
If the symptoms worsen or there is no improvement after 7 days of using the drug, you should contact us
to the doctor.
Shake the bottle before use.
If you have taken more Herbion syrup than you should
Do not take doses higher than recommended.

Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

4. Possible side effects

5. How to store Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
You must not use the medicine Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen after the expiration date indicated on
outer and inner packaging after "Valid until:". The expiration date refers to the last one
day of the specified month.
Do not store in the refrigerator.
Shelf life after first opening: 3 months.
Unusable medicines are handed over to the pharmacy where the notice that they are to be collected is displayed in that pharmacy

6. Contents of the package and other information
What does Herbion syrup from Icelandic lichen contain
– The active substance is a soft extract of the thallus of Icelandic lichen. 1 mL of syrup contains 6 mg of soft extract
thallus of Icelandic lichen (Cetraria islandica (L.) Acharius sl, thallus) (16-18:1), which corresponds to 96-108
mg Icelandic lichen. Extraction solvent: water, purified.
- Auxiliary substances are: sorbitol, liquid, non-crystallizing (E420); xanthan gum (E415); sodium benzoate
(E211); citric acid, monohydrate (E330) and lemon flavor (contains: lemon oil, ethanol, water,
purified, Citral ex. Litsea cubeba). See section 2 Lek Herbion Icelandic lichen syrup contains
sorbitol, liquid, non-crystallizing (E420) and ethanol.
What the medicine Herbion Icelandic lichen syrup looks like and the contents of the package
The syrup is a yellow-brown to brown, slightly opalescent liquid, with a specific smell and taste. It may be present
discrete sediment specific to natural substances.
The inner packaging of the drug is a dark glass bottle (hydrolytic resistance type III according to Ph. Eur.) with
with a plastic cap and a dosing spoon (the spoon is semi-transparent made of polypropylene, volume 5 mL,
graduated to 1.25 mL and 2.5 mL). The bottle contains 150 mL of syrup.
The outer packaging of the drug is a collapsible cardboard box containing a glass bottle with 150 mL of syrup,
dosing spoon and instructions for the medicine.
