Mechanism of action
The hydrogel complex, which is found in lozenges, consists of
carbomer, xanthan gum and hyaluronic acid. Thanks to
ability of xanthan gum polysaccharide to bind water and
the specific swelling ability of the gelling agent
carbomer, a protective film is formed that covers the irritated area
mucosa.
Hyaluronic acid contained in lozenges has
specific physical properties of creating a hydrating film on
mucosal surface.
Dry residue from a special Icelandic lichen extract,
resistant to the harsh climate of the northern highlands, contains
more than 80% mucin. By gently dissolving the lozenge in the mouth
they are released mucus that coats the mucous membrane of the mouth like a balm and
throat and have a beneficial effect.
The result is increased secretion of saliva, irritated mucous membrane
regenerates itself, a typical cold symptoms are alleviated
such as sore throat, scratching, hoarseness, dryness of the mucous membrane and
difficult swallowing.
