  1. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like other drugs, Voltaren Emulgel 1% can have side effects, although they may not occur in all patients. When diclofenac is applied to the skin, the concentration of the drug in the blood is much lower than after oral administration. This means that side effects are much less likely to occur than after oral administration of the drug (eg after administration of film-coated tablets or modified-release tablets). If Voltaren Emulgel 1% is applied to a large part of the skin, if it is used frequently or in a higher dose than recommended, the concentrations in the blood will be higher, and thus the risk of side effects will increase.

Local reactions
Voltaren Emulgel 1% is usually well tolerated. However, mild and transient local skin irritation in the form of rash or eczema, erythema (redness), itching or dermatitis can often occur. Photosensitivity reactions, desquamation (flaking of the skin), discoloration (changes in skin color) and bullous or vesicular eruptions (appearance of blisters on the skin) have been reported very rarely or in isolated cases. Patients should be warned not to expose themselves excessively to solar radiation, in order to avoid the possible appearance of photosensitivity. If a rash appears, stop using the product.
Very rarely, cases of asthma have been reported in patients who applied non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs topically (on the skin). Also, hypersensitivity reactions (in the form of urticaria - hives, or angioneurotic edema - swelling of the skin and subcutaneous tissue of the face, lips and neck) have been recorded very rarely.

Before use, study the instructions in detail. Consult your doctor or pharmacist about indications, precautions and adverse drug reactions.
